The Test
Mrs. White, I just wanted to thank you again for extending the date on our test and article!!! Im one of those people who does not deal with pressure well, and the fact that we can open our test up more than once and have after Spring break to finish is GREAT! However, I also love getting things finished so Im trying to get everything resolved before I leave Friday. ANYWAY thanks soo soo much..it helps my anxiety tons!

I do want to be flexible and allow people the opportunity to make sufficient time to work on the assessment.
I do want to use it as a learning experience. I believe students work through material in Blackboard and in their texts in ways they do not do at other times during the semester. This means students are engaging in important materials and resources. I want to provide adequate time for everyone to do that.
It reasons with increased time to access material and resources as well as to answer the questions would therefore come in depth and well thought out answers that demonstrate students understanding of the materials they accessed.
Dido for me too Mrs. White! I didn't really need the extension but I'm so glad that I have teacher who *cares* about how their students feel. It's a rare thing. :)
Vandi, I don't want to post personal information about your test and grade on the public blog. But, you're doing fine. There was only one question that really caused you problems. Did you not notice how much it was worth and look at EVERY part of it????
Look at your midterm grade.
Yes, you know I do care. I also want everyone to LEARN the material and not just do a test to DO A TEST. I want everyone to LEARN. Many of you will have students with learning disabilities and I want everyone to work with this material.
With me reading the text, weekly resources and in class, I learn SO much more.
Ok-that made me feel better, and I know exactly what question your talking about!!! Thank you!!!!
What a NOVEL thought...reading the text and reviewing the resources!! Truly, if I were certain that students would have this BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE upon arriving in class I would design the classroom activities very differently.
However, it is impossible to create discussions and activities about content that students do not know. I've often thought about STARTING every class with a PRE-Test and ending with a POST-Test.
Quick 10 Multiple choice or fill in the blank questions from the text and resources . . . hmmm grades as opposed to learning the material DOES MOTIVATE people.
I am also truely thankful for the extension. It made my week rotating shifts at the hospital much less stressful. I am just now back in Richmond for good, so I will be doing the test probably tommorrow. Thanks a bunch Mrs. White....your the best!
