I appreciate the responses relative to the Final. Keep posting. I'm sure everyone has some ideas that could be helpful on how you can demonstrate your knowledge!! You're basically designing your own final - what a novel thought for future educators!
This brings me to this question...what do you feel like are the most important concepts that we have learned this semester? What ideas, strategies or thoughts do you think you'll actually USE in the future?
Another way to look at it . . . or another question to answer (you can pick one of these or all) is what do you feel like one should have learned from having taken SED260?

I think one of the most important things that I have learned from SED 260 is to actually think about how an exceptional child views or experiences the classroom differently than a ‘normal’ child. There are SO many things that must be taken into consideration. The lighting, seating, atmosphere, color, layout, etc.
It’s amazing to me that so many simple things—things you maybe already do but without consciously thinking of them—can impact their learning. For example, writing main topics of classroom discussion on the board, introduction someone when they come into your classroom, or allowing students to have other ways to show their knowledge other than a paper-pencil test. All of these things, among many more, help these students tremendously in obtaining the information they need to succeed in a third, fourth, fifth, or even college classroom.
Yeah, I learned a lot about semantics, pragmatics, and syntax… and those items are VERY essential in language development and learning. But, I think years from now I will look back and remember all of the different learning strategies, hints, and tips the most. I am not an education major and I applaud those of you who are traveling that particular path. My major lets me interact with these children in a different way than an educator, but I think all of these techniques and the different way of thinking will help me to become a better School Psychologist.
The most important thing or what someone should have got from 260 is about semantics, pragmatics, and syntax.
I agree with Beth. With all that we've learned, I believe that the adaptations for the children are the thing that will stick with me most. Everything was so helpful, but I believe that the strategies, adaptations, and techniques will be something I will most definitely use in my classroom!
I was commenting to say exactly what Beth and Serina have already said. This class has been amazing at helping me see how to make the regular ed classroom more adaptable..This is one of those classes where I will keep my notebook so I can look back when Im getting my own classroom. (that doesnt happen often for me!)
P.S. I just want to apologize to everyone who reads my blogs over my horrible spelling; that is something I have never gotten a grasp on and Im a junior in college! haha
