Second Session

Hey Everybody! I have to agree with all of you that posted about the second class, I thought it was great too. I liked the fact that even though Mrs. White didn't bring her materials, the class still flowed very well. I thought the class discussion was great and that I left with more information than I had expected. Have a great rest-of-the-week.

I also agree that class was fun this week! I really enjoyed the activities that we did. I am a very hands on learner so I was excited to get to do something like that. I really hope that we continue to do things like this.

I like that we have a teacher who cares if we really comprehend the material taught rather than just memorizing information and forgeting it after the exam. The class was great. I liked that it was very hands on. However, in the classroom setting I am a very reserved person. I don't like to speak up and answer questions. Because I am the type of person that likes to listen and take in the information I am hearing... Think about it...get my mind wrapped around the info and then I will speak and express comments. I believe that my learning style will only help me later in my career because I understand that everyone learns differently. And I will apply a variety of techniques to help my students learn, and comprehend the material I am teaching.

Ashley, it's great to have students of all learning styles in our classrooms. I enjoy having all types in my classes. I know many folks do NOT like to speak up because of the reasons you shared. However, as a teacher you will be "on" all day and will need to speak up off the cuff to answer children's questions, parent's questions, administration's questions, etc. One of the BEST parts of your learning style is that you synthesize information and THEN speak or share. We all could stand to think more before we speak!!! But, I want to ENCOURAGE you to take the opportunity of college classes - at least this one - to push yourself to contribute at least once or twice per class period. If EVERYONE were of the same learning style like that the teacher would tend to lecture if she/he didn't find ways to draw students into participation.

I will be up front. I will work on throughout the semester involving EVERYONE in class discussions. I do respect that is hard for some people and try to give everyone a few weeks in the class to get used to everyone, me and the learning environment.
