Hi, I was wanting to know how the exams will be broken down. Will there be multiple choice questions? Or, will it be primarily critical thinking questions? Thanks!

The tests are online. They will be you demonstrating your ability to APPLY the information. Because it is online and open book, open note there is NO credit given for looking up answers and copying them or paraphrasing them from the book. We can discuss more about that in class - why and why not that would be an appropriate way for students to demonstrate knowledge AND to reach the expectations you established for ME and for yourself at the beginning of the semester.

The questions will be open-ended or much like open response questions. If you graduated from a Kentucky school you are very familiar with open response questions.

The test will be available after that Monday night's class and you will have until the following Monday to take it. It will be timed so you can NOT open the test, look at the questions and then go back to it at another time. Once you begin it, you will have to complete it. You will have four hours to complete the test.

How many of you are used to taking online tests for other classes? What have you found have been the greatest benefits? The biggest drawbacks or disadvantages?

I have had to take online test with last semester SED 104 class, I liked it alot more being able to take the test at your own pace, and not having to rush. One drawback was that I was not sure on the last class test how to explain myself correctly but you said something about discussing that.

Tiffany, we will definitely do examples in class. Is that what you mean? Will that help you?

My fear about online tests is when your internet messes up. I took an entire test last semester and when I went to submit it, it didn't submit. Therefore, I had to take the entire test over again. I just hate doing the work twice for the same grade. And it never fails when you do it the second time you're not as precise and careful as the first time.

I personally go both ways with online tests, I like the freedom of being comfortable and alone with no anxiety of rushing to get finished according to your classmates. However, I have also had trouble with blackboard messing up and struggling to find free time outside of class to get the test finished..however that is when we only had a day or two in order to finish. I feel for this class an online test will be great! so...thanks!!! haha

I have never taken an online test, I guess that is something that has been started recently. I know I will have to send my family out of the house for awhile so I can complete it. They just can not handle me having to concentrate on anything.

I believe if we go over examples it will help me understand the information and how you expect our answers to look like. that was my main concern.
